Join the Alqueva Expedition and explore the best of Alentejo. Departing from the Algarve, we cross backroads and golden plains until reaching the grandeur of the Great Lake.
A journey of contrasts: from the ruggedness of medieval castles to the scientific discovery of the universe. We integrate the official Dark Sky Alqueva experience, taking advantage of one of the clearest skies in Europe.
Dark sky
We go far beyond simple stargazing. In partnership with OLA (Observatório do Lago Alqueva), we offer a complete educational activity:
Navigation: Learn to find the Pole Star from Ursa Major and Cassiopeia.
Deep Sky: Identify constellations, nebulas, galaxies, and star types.
Solar System: Depending on the time of year, we observe planets and their specific characteristics through scientific equipment.
Real-Time Discovery: We track satellites (like the ISS) and understand stellar movements and distances.

Route highlights
Alentejo requires time. We designed this route to allow for the right pace: stopping at castles, feeling the silence of the vast landscapes, and, above all, and, above all, appreciating the night sky in one of the areas with the least light pollution in Europe.
Essential information
Participants: Minimum 3, maximum 8 people.
Ages: Recommended >12 years old. Minors accompanied by legal guardians.
Attire: Comfortable clothing and suitable footwear (there will be short walks on dirt paths).
Logistics: Rest is guaranteed with an overnight stay at an authentic local estate. Meals and tastings are carefully arranged with our local partners.
